Abilene, the main character in the immensely successful book ‘The Help’ by Kathryn Stockett, is a black maid. She has endured many tragedies, including the death of her only child. Despite this she exhibits strength, dignity and kindness while raising other children – the children of her white employers. While enduring so much discrimination, she still tries to remain non-judgemental, loyal and kind to not only her employer, but also their family and friends.
Like Abilene, how many ways can we show courage, dignity and wisdom as we face our challenges in life?
