If the grass looks greener on the other side… Stop staring. Stop comparing. Stop complaining and start watering the grass you’re standing on.
‘The greatest mistake a man can make is to be afraid of making one.’ Hubbard
My objective today is to help you fail more, embrace failure – not love it,
YES it hurts but, in many cases
THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO LEARN.
In the words of Tal Beh Shahar, Harvard University professor,
‘We learn to
- walk by falling
- to talk by babbling
- to eat by making a mess
- to colour inside the box by scribbling outside the box’
In the words of Roosevelt,’there is no effort without error…the credit belongs to the man in the arena, it is not the critic who counts’
Live is too short for us to live it any other way!
So let’s fail our way to success:
Where can you dare greatly?
Where do you need to take more risks?
Put yourself on the line and fail your way to success!
The American psychologist James Hillman first proposed the “acorn theory” in his book entitled “The Soul’s Code: In Search of Character and Calling”. He suggested that every individual already holds their potential inside themselves from birth, just as the acorn already holds the pattern for an oak tree. Each individual’s unique energy becomes actualized through their choices and actions in life once they answer their life calling, much like an acorn turns into an oak tree and matures when it finally blossoms. Without denying the existence of both nature and nurture in human development, let’s look at our own individual achievements, character, and aspirations and ask ourselves: “How am I responding to my inner acorn?”
….. to today!
There is absolutely nothing more threatening to your future potential than spending your present time dwelling on the past. Whatever has happened is now over. Victory or defeat, once the bells struck midnight, the day was done, gone for ever! Every morning you are reborn and who you are each single day is defined by what you do that single day & that single day only. You are not your past. You are only your present & your present actions determine your future.
So, pondering today’s potential, let’s take strength from the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
As they say in Greece on the first day of each new month: “Kalo Mina” – Have a good month!
The beginning of the month of June often signals our shift into summer plans and holiday visions. To this we can add a dose of good news, as found in the words of Anne Frank:
“Everyone has inside him (her) a piece of the good news. The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!”
Join us at this summer’s High Heels to Flip Flops retreat to discover your own greatness, harness your potential and create the life you are dreaming of!
